Nonprofit Day 2008 Election 2008 is upon us, and yet very few of the local, state and federal candidates are talking about the nonprofit sector and issues of importance to our community, those we serve and the resources we protect. Why is it that few current elected officials understand the economic and social power of nonprofits? We've all heard the quote that "all politics is local," and at no other time has this adage been more true. For nonprofits to truly be recognized as key social and economic players in the state, we all must raise our voices regarding the value of Michigan nonprofits to the overall quality of life in the state. This year's Nonprofit Day, geared for both the novice and experienced nonprofit leader, will focus on the importance of articulating the value of your individual and our collective work to policymakers, the media and the general public. We hope that you can join us for our ninth annual Nonprofit Day to discuss this and other pressing public policy issues impacting the nonprofit community.
